What problem does this PR solve?

Issue Number: close #6711

What is changed and how it works?

removeDispatcherOperator.Check now records the dispatcher's Stopped/Removed status with a new SpanReplication.UpdateRemovedStatus. It applies the state even when the reported checkpoint is behind the stored one, and keeps the higher checkpoint. UpdateStatus is unchanged, so moves are still protected from a delayed status from the origin node.

Check List

Tests

  • Unit test

Questions

Will it cause performance regression or break compatibility?

No.

Do you need to update user documentation, design documentation or monitoring documentation?

No.

Release note

Fix an issue that a changefeed might stop advancing after a maintainer move while a sync point was in progress.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • Fixed handling of stopped or removed dispatcher statuses reported with checkpoints behind the current checkpoint. The terminal status is recorded while preserving the current checkpoint, preventing it from moving backward.
  • Tests
    • Added coverage for stopped and removed status updates, including cases where the reported checkpoint is older than, equal to, or newer than the current checkpoint.

When a dispatcher reports a block event, the barrier forwards the span's
stored checkpointTs to blockTs-1. If the dispatcher is then removed before
it reaches that checkpoint, its Stopped status carries a lower checkpointTs
and SpanReplication.UpdateStatus drops it, so the span stays Working.

For the table trigger dispatcher this wedges a maintainer move: a
non-cascade remove closes only when the DDL span is no longer working, so
the old maintainer never reports Stopped and the coordinator never adds the
destination maintainer.

Let the remove operator record the terminal status regardless of its
checkpointTs, without moving the stored checkpointTs backwards.

Walkthrough

The remove operator now applies Stopped or Removed status even when the reported checkpoint is behind the span checkpoint. The span preserves its current checkpoint, and new tests cover the status update and remove-operator behavior.

UpdateRemovedStatus applies terminal status while retaining the higher stored checkpoint. The remove operator uses this method for matching dispatchers that report Stopped or Removed. Tests cover lower and higher incoming checkpoints and the remove operator’s stopped-status path.

Explanation

Issue [#6711] requires the remove operator to apply a terminal dispatcher status when its checkpoint is lower than the stored checkpoint, without lowering the stored checkpoint. removeDispatcherOperator.Check now uses UpdateRemovedStatus for matching-node Stopped and Removed statuses. The helper preserves the higher checkpoint and stores the terminal status. Unit tests cover the lower-checkpoint Stopped case and the helper behavior for both terminal states.

“Stopped” can pass, though late it came,
“Removed” can pass and do the same.

Hi @madhavramesh. Thanks for your PR.

I'm waiting for a pingcap member to verify that this patch is reasonable to test. If it is, they should reply with /ok-to-test on its own line. Until that is done, I will not automatically test new commits in this PR, but the usual testing commands by org members will still work.

Regular contributors should join the org to skip this step.

Once the patch is verified, the new status will be reflected by the ok-to-test label.

I understand the commands that are listed here.
