An end-to-end ETL and Business Intelligence project analyzing 24 years of global energy trends across 20 countries using Tableau Prep and Tableau Dashboards.
This project was built to analyze long-term trends in global energy production, consumption, pricing, and emissions across major economies. The workflow combines data preparation in Tableau Prep with dashboard development in Tableau to create analytics-ready datasets and interactive visualizations.
The project covers energy-related indicators such as electricity capacity, renewable vs. non-renewable energy consumption, energy price and index trends, and CO₂ emissions by source.
- Consolidate multi-country energy datasets into a unified structure
- Clean, transform, and pivot raw data for downstream analysis
- Build interactive dashboards to support comparative energy analysis
- Surface business and policy-relevant insights on energy sustainability and market trends
The dataset spans 24 years of energy-related data across 20 countries, including:
- Australia
- Brazil
- Canada
- China
- Denmark
- Finland
- France
- Germany
- Hungary
- India
- Italy
- Japan
- New Zealand
- Russia
- Singapore
- Spain
- Sweden
- Turkey
- United Kingdom
- United States
The project integrates multiple energy metrics related to:
- Electricity capacity
- Renewable and non-renewable energy consumption
- Energy prices and indexes
- Imports, exports, and domestic consumption
- CO₂ emissions by source
- Tableau
- Tableau Prep
- ETL
- Data Visualization
- Business Intelligence
- CSV
- Excel
Country-level energy datasets were collected and stored as individual CSV files.
Using Tableau Prep, the raw files were:
- combined into a single workflow
- cleaned and standardized
- validated for consistency
- pivoted into an analysis-ready format
The transformed output was exported into processed files for dashboard development.
Interactive dashboards were built in Tableau to analyze major global energy trends and country-level comparisons.
Analyzes country-level electricity capacity trends and the evolution of energy mix over time.
Compares renewable and non-renewable energy consumption patterns across countries and years.
Examines price movement and energy index changes over time across major economies.
Highlights emissions trends by source and supports cross-country sustainability analysis.
- China showed strong growth in electricity capacity, especially in solar, wind, and combustible fuels
- The United States demonstrated more stable growth patterns with steady renewable adoption
- Renewable energy adoption patterns varied significantly across developed and emerging markets
- Energy prices and indexes reflected different macroeconomic and policy environments
- CO₂ emissions trends highlighted major differences in energy transition progress across countries
