Track

Track 1 performance: preserve graphical quality and app functionality while reducing unnecessary runtime work on lower-end laptops.

Base

This PR targets perf/track1/001-009-instrumentation-and-benchmark-foundations. The controller groups related tickets into chunk branches so reviewers get coherent PRs instead of one PR per ticket.

Run from the controller directory before finalizing:
