[Bug]: Release publication reads newly created drafts before they are visible #20

Closed

Description

@jinxiao

Affected module or tool

Release publication (tools/release.py).

Version or commit

5b7ef36; publication run 37206952188 for preparation PR #16.

Environment

GitHub-hosted Linux; GoReleaser OSS v2.18.2; CGO_ENABLED=0.

Minimal reproduction

Publish the full reviewed plan. GoReleaser successfully creates commons/regex/v0.1.0. The immediate authenticated release lookup returns no match, so publication stops. Subsequent authenticated listing finds draft 403042020 with the exact reviewed tag, source SHA and notes. Root v0.1.0 has already passed consumer verification and is published.

Expected behavior

Allow a bounded read-after-write visibility interval after successful GoReleaser creation/finalization. Retain immutable tags, reviewed notes, conflict rejection, and the consumer gate.

Actual behavior

The single immediate lookup reports GoReleaser did not create the expected draft despite a correctly created draft. Issue #15 remains open.

Acceptance criteria

  • Wait only after a successful mutation, with a strict deadline.
  • Return once the requested phase is visible; check conflicts on every observed release.
  • Do not retry API errors, rerun GoReleaser, or overwrite notes/tags.
  • Cover delayed draft/finalization, timeout, and immediate conflict/API error propagation offline.
  • Resume PR chore(release): prepare auto-36f4844999-c882b3686aea #16 and verify all maintained public consumers.
