The Google Fonts stylesheet for Geist Mono blocked first paint on every page, but no tested page ever downloaded the font. It applied only to the logo link, which shows images, so this removes the stylesheet, its preconnects and the leftover references. The page looks the same.
Measurements
Lighthouse mobile, median of 3 runs. Before is production. After is a local Cloudflare runtime, so this is not a strict comparison.
//welcome/guide/syntax/guide/presenter-modeLCP is still just over Google's 2.5s target on all four pages.
Testing
Build, unit tests,
check:distandformat:checkpass. The theme demos keep their own Google Fonts on purpose. Not verified
