What does this PR do?

An XcodeProject/XcodeWorkspace now knows its own location on disk, which is important when we start using these types to build PIF.

How was it tested?

  • Used in future PRs to build various Xcode projects

AI tool usage

How much of this PR was AI-assisted? (check one)

  • 0 - No AI was used to write code
  • 1 - I was assisted by AI. I reviewed the finished result.
  • 2 - I set the AI going and left it to it; nobody has read the result - no review, or AI review only

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Improvements
    • Projects and workspaces now retain their associated locations and save directly to those locations.
    • Generated project files now preserve the configured project directory path, helping keep file references consistent when projects are written or reopened.

📝 Walkthrough

XcodeProject and XcodeWorkspace now store normalized URLs and write to those locations. Project loading reads the PBX project directory path as a source root, and PBX serialization includes that path. The packer supplies destination URLs when creating both objects.

Changes: Project and workspace I/O

Layer / File(s) Summary
URL ownership and project loading
Sources/XcodeProjects/XcodeProject.swift, Sources/XcodeProjects/XcodeWorkspace.swift, Sources/XcodeProjects/XcodeWorkspace+XML.swift
Project and workspace models store URLs. Project loading parses PBX data and derives sourceRoot from the PBX project directory path.
Project and workspace serialization
Sources/XcodeProjects/XCSchema+PBXProj.swift, Sources/XcodeProjects/XcodeProject.swift, Sources/XcodeProjects/XcodeWorkspace+XML.swift
PBX serialization includes the source root as the project directory path. Project and workspace writers use their stored URLs.
Packer integration
Sources/PackLib/XcodePacker.swift
The packer initializes project and workspace objects with destination URLs and calls write() on each.

Preserve relative projectDirPath values when writing a loaded project.

If a PBX project contains a relative projectDirPath, the reader resolves it to an absolute sourceRoot. Line 89 then writes that absolute path into project.pbxproj. After the project moves to another checkout, Xcode continues to use the old path for SRCROOT. Preserve the relative value, or serialize a path relative to the bundle’s parent for loaded projects. A nonempty projectDirPath affects SRCROOT. (github.com)
