Training Cycles

Training Cycles are rolling schedules of workout and rest days. They are useful when you want the app to tell you what is up next instead of choosing a routine manually every day.

Cycle Structure

A cycle has:

  • A name and optional description.
  • Ordered days.
  • Workout days linked to routines.
  • Rest days.
  • Active/inactive state.
  • Progress for current day, completed days, and skipped or missed days.
  • Optional progression settings.

Days are numbered inside the cycle instead of being hard-bound to weekdays.

Creating A Cycle

  1. Open Workout.
  2. Tap Training Cycles.
  3. Tap the create button.
  4. Choose a template or build a custom cycle.
  5. Add workout days by selecting routines.
  6. Add rest days where needed.
  7. Reorder, duplicate, edit, or delete days.
  8. Save the cycle.

Some templates may ask for 1RM inputs before creation. The app can use known PRs where available and falls back to manual input when needed.

Assigning Routines

Workout days need a routine. If a routine was deleted and recreated, the app attempts to repair unassigned days by matching routine names, but you should still review the cycle before relying on it.

To change a day:

  • Edit the cycle.
  • Select the day.
  • Pick a different routine or convert the day to rest.

Active Cycle

Only one cycle should be active for a profile.

The Training Cycles screen shows:

  • The active cycle card.
  • Current day and day count.
  • A day strip for browsing days.
  • Start buttons for assigned workout days.
  • Rest-day controls such as skipping or jumping when appropriate.

Starting a workout from the active cycle loads the assigned routine with cycle/day context so progress can be recorded.

Day Navigation

Use the day strip to preview another day. If you are previewing a different day, the app can offer actions to jump to that day or return to the current day.

Rest days can be skipped. Workout days can be started when they have a valid routine.

Completion And Progress

When you finish a cycle workout, the app records the completed day. Cycle progress can advance through days and wrap across repeated cycles.

If a routine has resumable progress, Project Phoenix can ask whether to resume or restart before entering the workout.
