Fixes #27864

Clause-②: no
Metadata-protocol: none

  • 先看:packages/spec/src/security/permission.form.ts(Identity 区前两行),packages/spec/src/security/permission-form-label-first.test.ts,packages/platform-objects/src/apps/translations/zh-CN.metadata-forms.generated.ts(permission.fields)。

What changes

  • packages/spec/src/security/permission.form.ts: the Identity section lists label first with required: true, then name (still required). The name help now reads "Derived from the label when you create the set; snake_case". A code comment records that required on a form row is a layout flag and that PermissionSetSchema still accepts a set with no label.
  • packages/spec/src/security/permission-form-label-first.test.ts (new): pins that the form is the one METADATA_FORM_REGISTRY.permission serves, that the Identity section opens on label then name, that label precedes name across the whole form, that both rows are required (with a control that description is not), that the name help names the derivation, and that the schema still parses a set with no label.
  • packages/platform-objects/src/apps/translations/*.metadata-forms.generated.ts: regenerated with node scripts/check-i18n-bundles.mjs --write --filter=platform-objects (the permission.fields keys now come label first, and the English name help is the new source text). The zh-CN, ja-JP and es-ES name help leaves are re-translated by hand to say the same thing, since merge mode keeps a stale translated leaf as it is.
  • .changeset/27864-permission-set-form-label-first.md: @objectstack/spec patch and @objectstack/platform-objects patch, carrying the two declaration lines.

Tests

  • New test, six cases, green on the branch; against the origin/main form (ablation: form restored from 549203d040, test unchanged) it is red on four of six (order, whole-form order, required flag, help text), the two that stay green being the registry identity and the accept-set control. Form restored from HEAD and byte-compared afterwards.
  • @objectstack/spec: build, check:generated (exit 0), typecheck (exit 0), full vitest run: Test Files 844 passed (844), Tests 23964 passed, 1 todo.
  • @objectstack/platform-objects: full vitest run: Test Files 101 passed (101), Tests 1434 passed.
  • node scripts/check-i18n-bundles.mjs: every bundle set in sync, platform-objects 11 bundles.

Acceptance notes

  • Measured house pattern: every other *.form.ts in packages/spec/src that carries both rows lists name before label (agent, skill, tool, flow, field, hook, object, position, email-template, action, app, dashboard, dataset, page, report, view), and none words its name help as derived from the label. This form follows the card's Wanted, not that pattern; whether the others should follow is not this card's scope.
  • The Console's create registration for permission (ui/packages/app-shell/src/views/metadata-admin/anchors.ts) already declares createFields: ['label', 'name'] and the label-to-name slugify rule; the served form's section order is what put Name first on screen. No ui/ change here.
  • required on a form row is read only by the renderer: /meta/types serves the form as layout beside the Zod-derived schema, and the save path validates with PermissionSetSchema, where label stays optional. No API accept set moves, which is why Clause-②: no.

Verification

Independent review: none run (quota); the seat reviews the diff (no contract-review face is expected unless packages/spec/src counts as a published schema here — the seat decides).

…ires it

The Identity section listed name (the API name) before an optional label, so
an administrator typed a machine name first and could save a set with no
human label while the Console derives name from the label. Label now comes
first and is required; name follows, and its help says it derives from the
label. The form's required flag is layout only: PermissionSetSchema still
accepts a set with no label.

… label-first permission form

The permission form's label row now precedes name in every locale's bundle,
the English name help is the new source text, and the zh-CN, ja-JP and es-ES
name help is re-translated by hand to say the name derives from the label.
Adds the changeset for both moved packages.

📓 Docs Drift Check

Nothing in this diff resolved to a documentable surface (no symbol, route or SDK anchor derived from 2 changed package(s)), so this run has no opinion about the docs.

What this run could not see

Coarse fallback — 168 page(s) merely mention a changed package (the pre-#9192 predicate, kept for the deliberately-wide backstop): node scripts/docs-audit/affected-docs.mjs --json 277275aa42c44979a5fbbf5b38b346ff3a835582 → packageMentionDocs.

席位核对 · ACCEPT (lane part) · card #27864 · 2026-10-30T14:20Z

  • Shape: 7 files, +100 / −18 at head 634b6c8a. permissionForm's Identity section (packages/spec/src/security/permission.form.ts) lists label first with required: true, then name (still required), whose help now reads "Derived from the label when you create the set; snake_case". PermissionSetSchema is untouched, so the API still accepts a set with no label: required on a form row is read by the renderer only, and the new test pins that the schema parses a label-less set. Name derivation is untouched. Changeset: @objectstack/spec + @objectstack/platform-objects patch, Clause-②: no / Metadata-protocol: none. Matches the card's Wanted and Acceptance.
  • Claim amendment (file surface): the four packages/platform-objects/src/apps/translations/*.metadata-forms.generated.ts bundles (regenerated by check-i18n-bundles --write; the zh-CN, ja-JP and es-ES name help translated by hand, because regeneration keeps an existing translation) and the @objectstack/platform-objects patch join the claimed surface. Read: the zh-CN line is right in meaning and register.
  • Face: packages/spec/src/** non-test is a published-schema face, so this owes a CONTRACT_REVIEW_TIER review even though no accept set moves; the seat does not narrow the face on its own reading.
  • Measured against the order: the order's "house pattern" assumption is refuted. All 16 other spec forms with both rows list name before label, and none says the name is derived. The dev followed the card. Those 16 forms are the same shape, but there is no repro or ruling, so nothing is filed; they are named in the PR's Acceptance notes.
  • Dev: opus under the quota-exhaustion exemption. New permission-form-label-first.test.ts, 6 cases (4 red on the old form); spec 23964 tests and platform-objects 1434 tests pass; spec build, check:generated and typecheck exit 0; check-i18n-bundles in sync. Gates: 81 derived, 79 run, 78 exit 0; check:dual-build-cjs-loads (3), check:type-check-debt (3) and check:dts-closure (1) are local build-state readings, and the platform-objects typecheck was not run locally. CI's TypeScript Type Check answers all of those. os-dev-report 6525047553.
  • Owed before any landing stroke: green CI and the CONTRACT_REVIEW_TIER review; this seat cannot serve that tier now and hands it over below.

Contract review

Served-tier: CONTRACT_REVIEW_TIER
Head-sha: 634b6c8ab0165b0f3d198696cbba8097cd44eef1
Local-runs: none
Scope: packages/spec/src/security/permission.form.ts + packages/spec/src/security/permission-form-label-first.test.ts, packages/spec/src/security/permission.zod.ts (PermissionSetSchema.label, .name), packages/spec/src/system/metadata-form-registry.ts, packages/spec/src/ui/view.zod.ts (FormFieldSchema.required), packages/metadata-protocol/src/protocol.ts (TYPE_TO_FORM, the /meta/types entry), ui/packages/app-shell/src/views/metadata-admin/anchors.ts (the permission registration), ui/packages/app-shell/src/views/metadata-admin/createDerive.ts, ui/packages/app-shell/src/views/metadata-admin/ResourceEditPage.tsx, ui/packages/app-shell/src/views/metadata-admin/SchemaForm.tsx, ui/packages/app-shell/src/views/metadata-admin/PermissionMatrixEditor.tsx, ui/packages/app-shell/src/services/builtinComponents.tsx, packages/platform-objects/src/apps/translations/{en,zh-CN,ja-JP,es-ES}.metadata-forms.generated.ts, .changeset/27864-permission-set-form-label-first.md. The cited code was read to judge the one hits file, not reviewed; the rest of the diff is the lane seat's ACCEPT at TIER_DEFAULT (comment 6525072867).

① Derived judgments

  • Accept set of the permission metadata kind: unchanged — right. PermissionSetSchema (permission.zod.ts, name: SnakeCaseIdentifierSchema, label: z.string().optional()) is not in the diff. The /meta/types entry builds its JSON Schema from getMetadataTypeSchema(singular) through toJsonSchemaSafe and attaches TYPE_TO_FORM[singular] beside it (protocol.ts around line 8683); nothing folds a form row's required into the served schema's required array, so the served contract's accept set is where it was. The new test's last case pins the label-less parse green on the branch.
  • Public surface of @objectstack/spec: permissionForm (exported via security/index.ts, served via METADATA_FORM_REGISTRY.permission) changes shape — right, and correctly declared. The Identity section now reads label (required) then name (required), and the name help text changes. Row order and a required override are renderer-facing layout: FormFieldSchema.required is documented as Required override (view.zod.ts line 3586), and the one Console consumer announces it as a visual star plus aria-required (SchemaForm.tsx lines 1939–1948), deliberately not native required, so no submit is blocked by it. No key is added, removed or retyped.
  • Console create screen: Label now precedes Name — right, and the mechanism the PR names is the real one. permission has createFields: ['label', 'name'] and a label to name slugify rule with untilUserEdits: true (anchors.ts lines 413–416) but no custom CreatePage (builtinComponents.tsx registers only EditPage: PermissionMatrixEditPage), so create goes through the generic ResourceEditPage, which passes createFieldList to SchemaForm as hiddenFields (the complement) and fieldOrder. fieldOrder only drives the flat fallback (orderKeys, SchemaForm.tsx line 1220); when a served form exists, SectionedSchemaForm renders s.fields in authored order and never consults fieldOrder. Hence the served section order put Name first on screen, and reordering the section is the one spec-side change that fixes it. The untilUserEdits claim in the new code comment matches useCreateDerive (respectTouched + markTouched from the edit page's onCreatePatch path).
  • Edit screen: unaffected — right. PermissionMatrixEditPage draws its own perm-label input (PermissionMatrixEditor.tsx line 1972) and does not render the served form, so existing label-less sets gain no star and no new refusal on edit.
  • i18n bundles: regenerated output, key order follows the registry walk — read, not judged. CI Lint & Repo Gates (which carries check-i18n-bundles) is green on this head.
  • No gate on main pins name-before-label anywhere. metadata-form-zod-reconciliation.test.ts reconciles key presence and tombstones, not row order or required; metadata-form-declared-rows.pin.test.ts pins two unrelated rows. Test Core and Test UI are green on the head.

② Semver level

@objectstack/spec patch, @objectstack/platform-objects patch — matches what the diff publishes. Per AGENTS.md the level follows the Metadata-protocol kind alone: none takes patch. Metadata-protocol: none is right — what an author can write to a permission set is unchanged (no key, value, requirement or default moves in PermissionSetSchema; a form row's required override is a renderer hint, not a tightened requirement on the authored body). The platform-objects patch is owed because the generated bundles are shipped source in a released package.

Clause-②: no — right: the diff declares no accept-set change and makes none (① first bullet). The line appears, line-initial, in both the PR body and the changeset body; Check Changeset and the PR-body guards check-run are both green on the head. The changeset's prose claims (Console fills name from the label; PermissionSetSchema unchanged) are both true in the tree.

③ Boundary flags

  • Dev deviation 1, "house pattern refuted — 16 other forms list name first": answered. The card's Wanted names label-first for this form only, and the seat accepted that reading; the other forms are named in the PR's Acceptance notes and filed nowhere, which is the correct carrier (no repro, no ruling). Not this card's scope.
  • Dev deviation 2, "file surface beyond the claim (platform-objects bundles + patch)": answered. The seat amended the claim in comment 6525072867; the bundles are regenerated output and the hand re-translations of the name help are read as consistent with the English source.
  • Dev deviation 3, "platform-objects typecheck, check:dual-build-cjs-loads, check:type-check-debt, check:dts-closure not measured locally": answered by the head's check-runs — TypeScript Type Check, Type Check · workspace, Type Check · source gates, Type Check · consumer gates, Type Check · debt ledger, Lint · repo & tooling gates and Build Core all conclude success on 634b6c8ab0165b0f3d198696cbba8097cd44eef1.
  • Dev deviation 4, "no independent review run": answered — this record is that review.
  • Dispatch constraint "no change to the permission-set object's accept set or to name derivation": held (① first and third bullets).
  • PR body's open question, "whether packages/spec/src counts as a published schema face": answered — reviewFace returns packages/spec/src/security/permission.form.ts as hits; the seat's handoff named the same tier. This record is rendered at CONTRACT_REVIEW_TIER.
  • open_questions in the os-dev-report: empty. Nothing to escalate.

④ Design judgment

packages/spec/src/security/permission.form.ts — judged against the card's ruling (label first and required, name after it, derived from the label; no accept-set move) and its first consumer, the Console's generic create form.

Holds. The section reorder is the change that moves Label before Name on the real screen (① third bullet: fieldOrder does not reorder a sectioned form, so createFields alone could never have done it). required: true on label reaches the control as a star and aria-required, and the Console's slugify rule fills name from the label until the admin edits name, which is exactly what the new code comment and help text say. The new test pins the registry identity, the section order, the whole-form order, both required flags with a control, the help text, and the label-less parse — the card's second acceptance box. Nothing on main reads a metadata form row's required server-side, so the Clause-②: no reading in the code comment is true in the tree, not just in the PR body.

Attempts to break it, and what each found:

  1. Should-fix — the required star is advisory in the Console, and this is the first row in the registry where the override and the Zod disagree. Every other label row marked required: true (agent, skill, tool, flow, field, position, email-template) sits over a z.string() that is itself required; permission is now the only form whose required override has no schema behind it. The Console honours a row's required as aria-required plus a star, by design not native required, and its client validation is advisory and reads the Zod (ResourceEditPage.tsx around lines 945–960), so an admin who leaves a starred Label empty and types a Name still saves a set with no human label — the business reason the card opened on. Within the dispatch's constraint (no accept-set move) and the domain:spec surface, this PR delivers the ceiling, and it says so plainly in the comment, the test docblock, the PR body and the changeset. But a star that Save ignores is itself the card's filing-gate ② state, so the gap wants a carrier: a ui card for "the metadata create form's Save refuses an empty row the served form marks required" (or a one-line note on New Permission Set form asks for the API Name before the Label and leaves Label optional (#27521 row 16) #27864 that the acceptance's "required" is the layout flag by ruling). Not a must-fix: the hits file claims nothing false and the ruling forbade the only spec-side cure.
  2. Should-fix — the name help over-promises for non-Latin labels. slugify strips everything outside [a-z0-9], so a CJK label derives to the empty string, and useCreateDerive then clears name (createDerive.ts, "Empty derivations … just clear the target; the UI then knows to prompt for manual entry") — but no Console surface issues that prompt (no matching string in the metadata-admin views or the studio i18n namespace). The help now reads "Derived from the label when you create the set; snake_case", and the zh-CN and ja-JP bundles say the name is auto-generated from the display name — precisely the locales where the derivation never fires, leaving a starred, empty Name under a help text that says it was filled. Suggested wording for the source row: "Filled from the label when it can be spelled in snake_case; otherwise type it (snake_case)". The three hand translations would follow. Not a must-fix: the derivation does run, the claim is true for Latin labels (the card's measured scenario), and the non-Latin case degrades to the pre-PR behaviour plus a misleading hint.
  3. No break — edit path. The matrix editor owns the edit screen and draws its own Label input, so existing label-less sets (none in examples/app-showcase, whose two sets both carry labels) see no new star and no new refusal.
  4. No break — gates. No gate on main reads form row order or a row's required against its Zod; the reconciliation gate's unchecked direction is key presence, not requiredness. Test Core, Test UI, Build & E2E UI and Spec property liveness are green on the head.
  5. No break — layout. columns: 2 with two colSpan: 1 rows puts Label left and Name right on one row; the DOM order, which the whole-form test reads, is label then name.

Verdict on the file: no must-fix; two should-fixes (1 and 2 above), neither blocking.
