- Around line 85-86: Move incoming frame-size enforcement from the check on
`raw` against `MAX_FRAME_CHARS` into the WebSocket receive/protocol layer so
oversized messages are rejected before buffering; use a hub-specific server or
protocol if needed, and preserve the existing 1009 close behavior.
- Line 28: Define MAX_FRAME_CHARS as a byte limit and update the incoming
WebSocket payload check to compare the UTF-8 encoded size of raw against it,
rather than counting Unicode characters.

…rames The hub API returns headset state and accepts config changes, but every proxy response, including it, carried `Access-Control-Allow-Origin: *`, so any web page could read it from a browser. - Hub API responses no longer carry CORS headers, and the process_response hook skips hub API paths. The web client's cert check uses no-cors fetch and its WebSocket needs no CORS, so the client is unaffected; the cert page and static client keep their headers. - The hub rejects text frames over 256 KiB with close code 1009 before parsing them. The 256 KiB check runs after websockets has received the whole message, so it avoids parsing oversized frames but is not a receive-size limit. Signed-off-by: Gareth Morgan <gmorgan@nvidia.com>
The 256 KiB check counted characters, so multi-byte text could exceed the limit on the wire while passing. Compare the encoded size as well; the cheap character count still rejects huge frames without encoding them. Summary
The OOB hub API (
/api/oob/v1/state,/api/oob/v1/config) is no longer readable cross-origin from a browser, and the hub rejects oversized WebSocket text frames before parsing them. The code does not depend on the control-token PR, but this PR does not stop cross-origin requests from being sent or a GET config change from taking effect: that needs the token PR to land with or before it.What changed
Access-Control-*headers; theprocess_responsehook skips hub API paths. The cert page, static client and WebSocket upgrade keep their existing CORS headers.test_wss_oob_cors.pyplus a hub test for the oversized frame.Validation

max_sizeisNone), so it avoids parsing cost but does not bound receive memory, and binary frames are only rejected after receipt. A transport-level limit for hub connections is a follow-up; a limit on the shared listener also affects the proxied signaling route and needs measuring first.OPTIONS) is answered before the request path is known, so it still returns the generic CORS headers. Responses to the hub API itself carry none, so a cross-origin page cannot read them.Origincheck and the HAProxy CORS headers inDockerfile.wss-proxyare unchanged: the web client does not depend on CORS from either, and an allowlist could block self-hosted client setups. Without the control token, tokenless registration and GET config changes remain possible.Test plan
